Babies and Baptisms

It was a good day!

Yesterday was blessed in very many different ways at Bethel.  PTL for the two young adults who were baptized & joined the church & another who joined.  So we had a total of three additions & two baptized.  That is enough to make even a Baptist preacher smile.

I preached in the morning service from II Corinthians 6:2 on “TODAY.”  It was a purely evangelistic message about why today is the day of salvation & urging lost ones to make that decision.  No one did, but the Holy Spirit was overshadowing in a real palatable way.  So we may yet see the hand of God finish the job in someone.  I opened the service with prayer for two AZ pastors: Cliff Lawton in Tucson & Dan Mooney in Gilbert.  These are both good brothers.

We also had a baby dedication service in the AM.  Nelson & Emily Blewett presented their little Laci & Paul & Valerie Mullinex brought their little Ezekiel for dedication to the Lord.  It was very precious as most baby dedications are.  Mrs. Elizabeth Gallagher played an outstanding violin offertory of “Praise to the Lord, Almighty.”  She was accompanied on the piano by Miss Anna Carpenter.  The two of them did an awesome job! Our attendance returned yesterday to respectable numbers too.  After the recent holiday weekend, it was almost downright rejoicing time!

The evening service had a vibrant testimony time of praise to God for some current & past blessings.  Pastor Seth opened up the service in prayer.  The choir was reduced in number but was big in sound & performance!  The tenors shown today in both services.   Then Mr. Lance Owen played the trumpet offertory as Pastor Seth accompanied him on the piano.  Lance is the anchor of the trumpet section of the church orchestra & serves as our Children’s church Director & on the Missions Committee.  He is truly a faithful man with a servant’s heart!  I then preached from Psalm 11:3 on “Character.”  It is the missing ingredient in most homes these days.  It was well-received by the church family & capped a day of good fellowship in the Lord!

So there you have it from my view point of how things went yesterday.  It was a good overall day with a LOT of good results in different ways.  PTL from Whom all blessings flow.
