The evangelist is here!

The Ron Degarde Family arrived to be with us Sunday January 20-Wednesday January 23rd for evangelistic meetings.  We had a wonderful opening day yesterday with a good attendance & the presence & power of the Lord evident.  Ron travels with his wife Kristen & their four children: Abigail, Alyssa, Andrew, & Austin.  Also Miss Georgia Beck travels with them to teach the boys in their homeschooling & to work in the music & children’s meetings each night.  All of them were used in the services yesterday.  It was so refreshing to see a whole family serving the Lord together!

The AM service featured a reader’s theater on the life of George Mueller.  It was good, & the rest of the story will be told in subsequent episodes each night of the meetings. It really is good.  Our choir sang in their delightful way as usual & blessed our hearts greatly in both the morning & the evening!  The offertory was a violin duet by the Degarde girls accompanied by their mother on the piano of the old favorite, “The Old Rugged Cross.”  It was very well done & sounded to all of us like old pros who had done it a time or two previously.  Then Bro. Degarde preached from Luke 15 on “What Brings Joy to the Father.”  It was very good & obviously the power of the Spirit was working.

The evening service opened with the choir singing, “I Am Not Afraid.”  Their harmony was majestic as that song ministered to the lonely, discouraged, & weary.  It assured us that “God is there.”  Mrs. Emily Blewett accompanied the choir on the piano.  The reader’s theater on George Mueller gave us part two which was much better than part one!  Then we had a piano duet on separate pianos across the auditorium from each other by Mrs. D. & Alyssa.  They wowed us with “Come Thou Fount” in exact synch with each other.  It was delightful in sound, doctrinal in message, & dynamic in performance!  Then the Degarde kids sang together in a sweet sound of children’s voices in excellent harmony.  The evangelist then preached from II Chronicles 7:14 on “How Revival Can Be a Reality.”  It was a good solid Bible message & resulted in some significant altar action at the invitation.  PTL for that.

Yesterday was a blessing to all.  Another unique feature of their ministry is the extensive resource table of good, conservative music & a large collection of good books & volumes for believers to continue to grow & progress in the Lord long after they leave the territory.  For that I am thankful also.

So we are off & running in the meetings.  There is not telling what the Lord will do as He is Omnipotent, you know?  We have prayed, invited, worked, & now we are looking to see what He wills to do in us & through us.  To God be all the glory!
