What a blessing! 🙂
Yesterday was a picture perfect Lord’s Day from the weather side of things. It was about 74 with clear skies & warm sunshine. But it was also a beautiful day at Bethel from the spiritual side of things too. 🙂 We had 105 in the AM & 59 in the PM. Evangelist Ben Everson was with us for a blessed day of musical delight through his acapella singing & unusual arrangements & the powerful preaching of the Word. In the AM he sang of the hypostatic union in the song, “What Manner of Man Is This?” It was a truly powerful message in song. He played a wonderful piano offertory solo of “His Eye Is on the Sparrow too.” He played with such ease, made it enjoyable, & was so enthusiastic. Our hearts were blessed from the message from James 1:22 about how we can test that we are not “deceiving our own selves”.
James 1:22 – But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
The evening service was a relative concert that thoroughly blessed us clear down to our gizzards! He demonstrated how he does his “one man quartet” style. It was amazing in sound, style, & function. We enjoyed such songs as: “Complete in Thee,” “There Is a Fountain” (to a new tune that he wrote), “I’ll Pray Again” etc. His piano offertory solo was enthusiastic, extraordinary, & enriching. Wow is the only word for the rendition of “Overshadowed.”
So it was a blessed day in many ways. We had some out-of-town guests with us as well as some bona fide local snow birds. But most of all, there was an excited spirit amongst the people. That translated into an anticipatory service & excited people. I loved it!
Some things coming up at Bethel are:
•This Wed. night is Hat Night at Master Clubs.
•This Saturday afternoon is the youth activity for the teens.
•A SS staff meeting this Sunday night after church.
•The Pine Car Derby for the kids on Sat. March 14th.
•A message this coming Sun. Am on “Satan’s Schemes”
Things are happening at Bethel. A broad-based promotional committee led by Anne Gibson is developing some exciting things to reach into our community & put Bethel on the map. (Currently we are the best kept secret in Tucson!)
So thanks for tuning in to this weekly note again. And thanks for caring & praying for us down here in the desert. PTL that the Lord is on the move amongst & with us!
